Prof. Stenzl is a German urologist and uro-oncologist. He was the director of the Department of Urology at the Eberhard-Karls-University in Tübingen/Germany. He is currently Senior Professor and consultant surgeon at the Diakonissen Hospital in Stuttgart. Academic Activity His main research interests are in the field of bladder and prostate cancer and reconstructive urology. Prof. Stenzl has written or contributed to more than 840 publications, with a strong emphasis on urooncology and reconstructive surgery. In addition, he is the investigator of numerous clinical trials and organizer of national and international symposia on urooncology. At the same time, he is involved in numerous editorial articles in urological journals, and he was the Section Editor in the "European Urology". He was also a member of the Executive Board of BJU International, and on the editorial board of several other peer review journals. His ongoing research focuses on intraoperative multisensory tissue differentiation in oncology, which is funded by the German Research Foundation. National and International Engagement He is involved in various national and international urological associations. From 2020 to 2021 he was the President of the German Society of Urology (DGU From 2012 to 2020 he was a chairman of the Scientific Program Committee of the European Association of Urology (EAU). Since 2019 he has been the Adjunct Secretary Science and in 2023 he became Secretary General of the EAU. Prof. Stenzl was also a board member of the European Cancer Organisation (ECO) Awards Maximillian Nitze Medal - highest scientific award from the German Urological Association (DGU) Lifetime Achievement Award, World Congress of Urologic Oncology, New York Honorary member: Swedish Society of Urology, Central American Urological Association (CAU), Bristol Institute of Urology. Honorary Doctor (Dr. h.c.): Carola Davila University, Bucharest, Romania Patents International patents in the field of Urology: C-Trap, an implantable device for the treatment of urinary incontinence; a method of generating pluripotent stem cells; a biomarker for the detection of renal cell cancer.
