He specializes in robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy, kidney-preserving surgery for kidney cancer, total cystectomy, minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy and other complex surgeries.

AAU Lecture Topic: Robotic Flexible Ureterorenoscopy— Gimmick or a True Helper? What's It Cost Performance Value?
Dr Albert El Hajj is an Associate Professor and Head of the Urology Division at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. He is the medical director of the Surgery Clinics and Codirector of the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIM) center. After graduating from the Saint Joseph University in Beirut, he completed his robotic and minimally invasive surgery fellowship in Paris. He joined AUBMC in July 2013 where he founded the Robotic Urology program. Dr El Hajj’s main clinical and research interests are Robotic Surgery, Endourology and Prostate Cancer. -

Associate Professor Lukman Hakim, MD, PHA, Ph.D is currently a urologist at the Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, Indonesia. Apart from his main work as a clinician focusing on Uro-oncology and Men’s Health, he has been working in a private IVF clinic in the last several years. He is currently the Dean Faculty of Medicine and Health at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya, Indonesia. He underwent his clinical training programme in Urology and received his master degree in hospital administration from Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, Indonesia. Furthermore, he was granted a Ph.D from KU Leuven (Belgium) in 2015. In light with his interest in Urology, he went further for a clinical fellowship to Mansoura-Egypt Leuven-Belgium, Verona-Italy, and Tenerife-Spain). In the preclinical setting, Dr Hakim is highly interested in the application of stem cell for urological disorder. He is currently a member of Airlangga University Stem Cell Research and Development, and lead some project with his trainee on the application of stem cells. Dr Hakim is currently a member of several associations : European Association of Urology (EAU), Société Internationale D’Urologie (SIU, Scientific Committee member), American Urological Association (AUA), Indonesian Urological Association (IAUI, Chair of Scientific Committee), Indonesian Society of Uro-oncology (ISUO, Chair of Scientific Committee), International Society of Stem Cell Research (ISSCR). Within the Indonesian urological community, Dr Hakim was the past-secretary general; meanwhile in the Asia Pacific community, he has been appointed as the executive board member of Asia Pacific Society of Uro-oncology (APSU), Asia Pacific Prostate Society (APPS), Asia Pacific Society of Sexual Medicine (APSSM), Asian Urological Surgery Training and Education Group (AUSTEG). Dr. Hakim published several articles and book chapter both related to Men’s Health, Urological Oncology and Stem Cell application. He also serve as peer reviewer in several journals.

BJUI Lecture Topic: 2025 ProtecT Trial update & the caveats of its generalizability
Freddie C. Hamdy joined the University of Oxford in 2008 as Nuffield Professor of Surgery and Head of the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, Professor of Urology, and Honorary Consultant Urological Surgeon, as well as Fellow of Balliol College. He trained in Surgery and Urology at Liverpool, Sheffield and Newcastle, and was founding chair of Urology, Director of the Section of Oncology and of the Division of Clinical Sciences at Sheffield. He introduced a robot-assisted surgical programme to Oxford in 2009, led the Oxford NIHR BRC (Biomedical Research Centre) Surgical Innovation and Evaluation Theme, and was founding co-Director of the first Surgical Intervention Trials Unit at Oxford in the UK. His research activities include clinical, translational and basic science programmes on the biology of urological malignancies. He is Chief Investigator of many studies including the HTA NIHR ProtecT trial on prostate cancer, the largest of its kind which changed clinical practice worldwide, and conducted a pioneering first-in-man trial of image-guided surgery in prostate cancer using molecularly targeted fluorescence. He was Director of the Division of Surgery, Women’s and Oncology at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust between 2010-2020. He has raised over £80 million in peer-reviewed research income, and published over 500 peer-reviewed manuscripts. He was elected Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2007, NIHR Senior Investigator in 2010, and became Editor-in-Chief of the British Journal of Urology International in 2020. He was appointed CBE by HM King Charles in 2024 for services to surgical and cancer sciences. -
